Beware of UK Web Hosting Scams: They’re Out to Rip You Off!

Post by Damon »

Thinking of getting web hosting in the UK? Well, let me stop you right there. Do NOT—I repeat—do NOT just search for something like "UK best web host" or "UK web hosting." You will regret it. Why? Because you’ll find yourself swamped by a sea of scammy, so-called "web hosting companies" that are anything but legitimate.

These top search results are a cesspool of rip-off merchants and internet marketeers who don’t run real web hosting operations. I know this first-hand because I've been duped by these pretenders. You see their high ranking in search engines, and you assume they must be good. But that's far from the truth. Many of these companies aren’t even based in the UK— their servers are rented from larger, legitimate web hosting companies.

What these scammy operations do is rent a server from a bigger host and then carve it up into as many different accounts as possible. The people running these so-called UK hosting companies are often clueless. They don’t know what they’re doing, leading to a ton of issues that can ruin your online presence.

I won’t name specific companies here because one particular low-life, when I wrote an honest, negative review about how slow their service was (it was factual, not defamatory), started threatening to sue me. This company is just a one man show so that says it all really. This moron even cancelled my hosting upon reading the review (beating me to it I might add), deleting my work and showing little regard for his customers. This web hosting company’s name starts with a ‘B’ and ends with ‘Rixly’. That tosser needs to be put out of business for good.

Security Risks
First and foremost, security goes out the window. With so many accounts crammed into a single server, the risk of a security breach skyrockets. These flimsy setups are a hacker's dream. One small vulnerability, and your data could be compromised.

Slow Server Speeds
Then there’s the speed—or lack thereof. With countless accounts packed into a single server, your website will be excruciatingly slow. Imagine visitors clicking on your site and waiting ages for it to load. Frustrated, they leave, never to return. This isn't just an inconvenience; it's a business killer. A slow website translates to lost customers, poor search engine rankings, and ultimately, lost revenue.

Unreliable Service
Reliability is another major issue. These companies often experience frequent downtimes and poor customer service. When something goes wrong (and it will), you’ll find yourself in a never-ending loop of unresponsive support or, worse, generic, unhelpful responses. Your business deserves better than this shoddy treatment.

The Better Alternative
I switched to a major American web hosting company and, despite the server being in the US, it was infinitely faster and more reliable. Not only that, but it was also cheaper. You get more bang for your buck, and I use a Content Delivery Network (CDN) to deliver content even faster to UK visitors. This setup is leagues better than dealing with these rip-off, so-called UK web hosting companies.

The Bottom Line
Don’t fall for the scam. Do your homework, read reviews, and choose a reputable, well-established web hosting company—even if it’s not based in the UK. Your business—and your sanity—will thank you. Avoid the scammers at all costs; your online presence depends on it.

Share Your Experiences

I know I wont be alone. Have any of you been sucked into a "UK WEB HOSTING SCAM"? If so, please share your experience. These bastards really cannot get away with this crap, and the more we speak out, the more we can help others avoid the same fate.

Absolutely spot-on! Let me add my two cents to this hellish experience with UK web hosts...

I got lured in by those flashy, too-good-to-be-true deals. My thought process was, "Oh, they're in the UK; they must be more reliable." What a joke! These clowns don't even know the first thing about customer service or maintaining a server. I remember signing up with one popular "UK-based" host, and within a week, my site was slower than a snail on sedatives. We're talking page load times that felt like an eternity. My visitors were bouncing faster than a trampoline artist.

My site went down multiple times, and every time I reached out to their so-called "support," I was met with radio silence. It felt like shouting into the void. When I did get a response, it was some generic, canned message that solved absolutely nothing. It was like they were copying and pasting from a script.

These crooks would also sneak in hidden fees like there was no tomorrow. My monthly costs started ballooning for no apparent reason. When I questioned it, they said it was due to "upgrades" I never asked for. It was like being held hostage.

Eventually, I wised up and switched to a reputable host outside the UK. The difference was night and day. My site was faster, more secure, and the customer support was actually helpful. The kicker? It was cheaper too. I almost cried tears of joy.

So yeah, steer clear of these UK web hosting scams. They’re not worth the headache, the money, or the risk to your business. Do your research and invest in a reliable host. nuff said.

I went with that exact one you called out OP beginning with B ending with rixly. My site got hacked within a month of being with them. I later found out that they don’t even have basic security measures in place. It was a playground for hackers, and I paid the price. My data was compromised, and I had to shell out extra to fix the mess they created. Stay away.
