The Asian Hornet Invasion 🐝
Hey everyone, I’ve been hearing a lot about these Asian hornets making their way to the UK, and I’m freaking out! I mean, I'm already terrified of getting stung by a bumblebee, let alone something that's three times bigger! What should I do if I come across one? I had a wasp on the back of my neck once at a traffic light. Thought it was a spot, picked it off, and then realized it was a wasp! Held it for a few seconds before letting it go, but it stung me right there. Any tips or advice if I come across one?

I got stung by a European hornet once; felt like a red-hot poker! The key is to stay calm and back away slowly. Don’t swat at it. Asian hornets are about 2 inches long. Compare that to our native European hornets, which are around 1.4 inches.. so im guessing their sting will be even worse!!!

Asian hornets can devastate bee colonies. Our honeybees just don’t know how to defend themselves against these invaders. The Asian honeybee, has a cool trick to deal with them – they swarm around the hornet and vibrate their muscles to cook it alive! Our bees need to take some notes.

I can't even handle regular wasps. Once, a wasp got into my car the other day while I was driving. Nearly crashed trying to get away from it. Had to pull over and let it out. I can't imagine dealing with something bigger. Just run, I say!

Avoid wearing bright colors and strong perfumes. These can attract them. And if you ever get stung, remember to clean the area and apply an ice pack to reduce swelling and if you start getting an allergic reaction go to A&E ASAP!

You all crack me up! But you know, our ecosystems are delicate. Invasive species like the Asian hornet can throw things out of whack. We need to be vigilant. Report any sightings to the authorities so they can get rid of them before they set up shop and do too much damage,

Blimey, this takes me back to last summer. Was in me garden, and a bumblebee went straight for me. I panicked and ended up swatting it away, but I got stung real bad. I can only imagine what an Asian hornet could do. They say if you do stumble upon one, just back away real slow. They’re territorial, but not outright looking to sting you.

Can't believe I'm saying this, but I'm kinda fascinated by these hornets. Did you know they can fly up to 25 miles per hour? Wild stuff. But yeah, they’re bad news for our ecosystem. Let’s hope we don’t see too many of ‘em around.

I’m telling ya, the best defense is a good offense. If you’re out in the garden, maybe keep a spray bottle handy. Heard vinegar can be a great deterrent.
