The real meaning of Easter!
Posted: April 6th, 2023
I thought I would just share this quick message seeing as its nearly Easter.
As we approach the Easter time, it is important to reflect on the significance of Jesus' sacrifice on the cross. It is easy to get caught up in the hustle and bustle of our daily lives, but we must not forget that we are all sinners in need of salvation.
We often assume that we will just go to heaven when we die because we have lived a relatively good life and have only done minor sins, but this is simply not true. If we were allowed to enter into heaven as sinners, it would just be like earth. Heaven is a perfect and wondrous place where there is no sin at all. We need the blood of Jesus to wash away our sins and make us worthy of entering into this perfect place.
The NIV bible tells us in Romans 3:23, "for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God." This means that no matter how perfect we may think we are, we have all sinned and fallen short of the perfect standards of God. It is impossible for us to enter into the kingdom of God as sinners.
But, the good news is that we do not have to remain in our sinful state. Jesus came to earth as a perfect and sinless being to offer himself as a sacrifice for our sins. His blood was shed on the cross so that we could be forgiven and have the opportunity to enter into heaven.
Unlike us Jesus was able to live a perfect life despite being exposed to all the temptations, suffering, and harshness this fallen world has to offer because he is God. He brought real love to this broken and cruel world, and how did we repay him? We put him on the cross and murdered him.
But, Jesus cannot be defeated. He rose from the dead and instead of punishing us, he forgave us. This act of forgiveness is the ultimate example of love and grace. It is a reminder that no matter how many times we fall short, we can always turn to Jesus for forgiveness and salvation.
As we celebrate Easter, let us remember the sacrifice that Jesus made for us. Let us reflect on our own sinful nature and ask for forgiveness. And let us strive to live a life that is pleasing to God, knowing that through the blood of Jesus, we can one day enter into the perfect paradise of heaven.
I do hope this helps anyone who reads this!
